Creativity with structure
Students turn a rough idea into a playable design with goals, rules, obstacles, rewards, and a clear player experience.
Parent and school version
Build Day is a 24-hour online Roblox hackathon where students use imagination, planning, teamwork, and Roblox Studio to build a playable game from their own idea.
What it is
Instead of only playing Roblox experiences, students become creators. They choose an idea, plan the rules, build a world, test it with others, and improve the game until another person can understand and enjoy it.
The hackathon format gives students a clear deadline, a creative goal, and a reason to practice persistence when their first version needs changes.
Students turn a rough idea into a playable design with goals, rules, obstacles, rewards, and a clear player experience.
Students practice Roblox Studio basics such as parts, terrain, spawns, checkpoints, simple scripts, and publishing workflows.
Students debug broken moments, improve confusing areas, and learn that revision is a normal part of making digital projects.
Students explain their idea, describe how the game changed, and present why their final version is fun and playable.
24-hour schedule
Students review the challenge, choose a Roblox game idea, sketch the main rules, and decide what must be playable by the end.
Participants learn the tools they need for a first build, including world setup, objects, player starts, and simple interactions.
Students create their game, test it with classmates or friends, and use feedback to make the experience clearer and more fun.
Teams submit their playable game and reflect on what they learned about design, creativity, teamwork, and technical problem solving.
Why schools should care
Build Day gives students a reason to move from consuming games to creating one. They practice focus, patience, and decision-making while making something they can proudly show others.
The event supports project-based learning. Students define a goal, work through constraints, document choices, respond to feedback, and complete a public-facing digital artifact.
Build Day can support enrichment, technology clubs, media arts, coding introductions, game design units, or after-school STEM programming.
